Installation and Setup on Windows
In this tutorial, we will install and set up the Actian Zen Server database on Windows 10.

Downloading Actian Zen Server
First, download the installer for Zen Server.
All downloads are available from the Actian Electronic Software Distribution page. Downloads require an Actian ID, so make sure to log in or register an Actian ID before starting the download.
For this Getting Started guide, we recommend downloading the trial version of Actian Zen.
You can select the package to download by choosing the following in the dropdown menus:
- Product: Actian Zen
- Release: v14 Evaluation
- Platform: Windows x86 32/64-bit
Installing Actian Zen Server
The download package is a self-extracting ZIP archive that will place the installation files into the directory of your choice. The default location is: \ActianCache\Zen14.00.
The extractor will automatically run the installation file when it is done, though if you need to access the installer manually, it is located at: ActianCache\ Zen14.00\autorun.exe.
When the installer runs, it presents a list of products to install. For this tutorial, select Install Zen V14 Enterprise Server.
Complete the installation wizard, and make sure to choose the Complete setup type.
When the wizard finishes, the Actian Zen Server database engine is ready to use.
Zen Control Center
Now that you have the database installed, you can open the database management console by either searching for Actian Zen 14 > Zen Control Center & Documentation in the Windows Start menu, or you can find the shortcut in the default installation directory, which is located at C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Actian Zen 14.
Open the app and you’ll be able to see the default databases that are installed with Actian Zen.
In Zen Control Center you can view and manage the databases that are installed on your computer or on a network server. You can learn more about the Zen Control Center by referring to the full documentation.
